What is the purpose of the Prayer Partner Program?
Our current “Prayer Partner” program was established a number of years ago in an effort to involve both children and adults in the congregational prayer life. The idea was to increase the number of people supporting one another through the power of prayer.
The program works like this. Every other month we pass out 3 X 5 cards on which you can simply place your name or you can be very specific about any issues for which you require prayer. The cards are collected during the offering portion of the worship service. Upon conclusion of the service as the congregation is leaving the sanctuary, each person is to draw out a card from the offering plate.
Then for the next 60 days you are to pray for your “Prayer Partner” (the name on the card) on a daily basis. It is very strengthening to know that someone is praying for you each day. It could be a child or an adult, but either way it is a very rewarding and supportive experience.
Scripture tells us in the book of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!” And in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 “Be joyful always: pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
This is a very important time in the life of our congregation and it is a very unusual time in our world at large. We encourage you to become a “Prayer Partner” and see how the Lord can bless your prayer life and the prayer life of another.
